The coalition doc that I'm thinking of going with estimated that I'd need about 1200 grafts to the frontal hairline area and about 800 to the crown. He told me to expect about 50-55cm2 density to the hairline and said that I'd be very happy with the results. Is this considered dense packing? I've noticed some members on this board would only be happy with 70-90 cm2. Why such a descrepancy?

I am no pro in HT but I think people would have to know a little more about you.

1. Your current hair loss CLASS ( in Norwood scale)
2. Your age
3. How long have you been losing your hair?
4. Are you on any meds?

buccap,

The illusion of hair density depends on a number of things. Follicular unit grafts per square cm is part of it, but the number of hairs per graft, and hair characteristics also play a significant role. Course hair will appear more dense than thin fine hair. Alternatively, 55 2 haired grafts per square cm will produce the same density as 110 single haired grafts per square cm. These are some things to keep in mind.

Of course, everything HairDew mentioned is highly relevant to the doctor's overall assessment of your case.

Best wishes,

Falc

I wonder how it is possible in the first place? If you take a square centimeter on a piece of paper and try to put 60 dots with you pen it is not easy. Not to mention the act of placing 60 graphs sqcm with a tweezers seams impossible.

Thin,

It's possible with magnification which the majority of physicians use when creating incisions and placing grafts.
