Hello fellas!

I have been reading these forums for a couple of months now and until now I was kinda shy to post anything but I think the time has come to actually get involved. Im 35 (NW2 I think)...I don't really look that bald but my hair line is receding especially the right side.

I've tried different meds for the past year (propecia and Rogain). I had some side effects with Propecia after a few months, so I stopped taking it. None of those 2 meds really helped me, I'm still losing hair....It's just SO DEPRESSING to see tons of hair every time I'm washing it.

So I think the time has come for me to do an HT. I'm just so grateful for this site and incredible amount of information I have absorbed for the past couple of months. I still have tons of hair all around except my hairline, which looks like its getting higher.

So my questions are:

1. Would a FUE work for the case like mine? I don't really want a scar across the back of my head like I have seen. I tend to have my haircut short and spiked.

2. I pretty much narrowed down my Doc list to either Dr. Keene or Dr. Alexander. I have read nothing but excellent reviews on both of them by this community. Do both doctors perform FUE? If yes who is notoriously more experienced in this type of procedure? I have read tons of post on this forum about Dr. Feller and his inredible results in FUE world. How do Dr. Keene and Alexander match up to Dr. Feller?

I don't really mind traveling ANYWHERE but both Dr. Keene and Dr. Alexander are in my backyard (I live in Phoenix AZ)

Thank you very much to everyone who is reading my post. Your comments are most welcome.

Best Regards

I'm glad you got brave enough to post your own questions. Most posters are friendly and just want to help.

As far as I know, both docs perform only the strip method and not fue. If the thought of a scar is bothersome to you, then fue is probably your best bet. Good luck with your research and achieving your HT goals.

HairDew,

Welcome to our forum community.

Dr. Keene and Dr. Alexander are two elite physicians and worth considering and consulting with for surgery. Out of the two, Dr. Alexander is the only one listed for doing FUE.

Truth be told, I have not seen much FUE work from him so be sure when consulting with him that you ask to see many FUE patient photos and possibly even talk to or meet some of his FUE patients. Ask him also about the benefits and risks of FUT and FUE and then decide which hair transplant method is right for you.

I hope this helps get you started in your research.

Falc

Also, some of the scars being done nowadays are virtually undetectable. Maybe a poster with short hair can link his up for us?

Thank you very much guys, I cannot express enough words for this community. I will research a bit more about Dr. Alexander and his patients who undergone FUE.

I have visited Dr. Alexander's page and the link you have provided. It is quite interesting. I have this quote from his BIO.

quote:

Dr. Alexander invested time in New York with Dr. Alan Feller learning follicular unit extractions or FUE. Dr. Feller is a leader in performing and teaching the FUE procedure and has developed important techniques and instruments for performing this surgery.

Thanks Falceros, every time I read any post on the forum, your name pops up all over the place. I admire your contribution to these forums Smile

hairdew, my personal opinion is that alexander does some of the most natural-looking hairlines out there. not sure i've seen any of his fue work but he did study under one of the masters. best of luck in your journey!

Hi HairDew,

Dr. Keene does not do FUE even though she knows how to do it and has done it. The reason is because with the trichophytic closure, the scar from the incision can be virtually undectable, and if scarring occurs due to factors such as insufficient scalp laxity, then it is just as likely to occur with the FUE technique. To read more about why Dr. Keene advocates the strip technique even though she can do the FUE technique, go to her website at http://www.hairrestore.com/fue.htm. Best of luck in your decision making process!
