Holy toledo!!!!

I've read so much on this site the following sentence:

"I had my session XX days ago and nobody can tell".

I've had so much shock loss, there's nothing left!!Even my previous plugs are gone. Its only been 11 days post op. I haven't gone back to work yet. But when I do, everybody will be able to tell. Shock loss, redness....

Do the hairs that were there grow back?
If not, then all the FU's I got are simply replacing what I lost and I'm back to where I started.

Midnite,

"Shock fall out" does occur in a minority of patients. Typicaly the hair loss is only temporary and the hair regrows.

This topic has been discussed extensively on this group by both patients and surgeons. Just go to the search feature and enter "shock" and you will get a wealth of detailed info on the topic.

Good luck with your recovery and in getting the results you want.

Pat

Pat,

Thanx for the reply. I happened to be doing the search while you replied.

I'd seen discussions before I had my surgery. However, I'd assumed that my previous 10 year old plugs would be ok because they are not considered "hair I was going to lose anyway".

I'm just surprised by the amount of plug hair I've lost. I'm hoping this hair will regrow.

By the way...great site.

Midnite,

My experience with subsequent transplant procedures was that my hair transplants never shedded with the next procedure around them.

Normally it is just the hair that is already weak and thin that sheds.

If you'd like I can move this topic to the "ask surgeons" forum so that a surgeon will see it and comment.

Let me know - Pat

P.S. Hang in there. You will only get better from here on out.

Pat,

Yes please move such that a surgeon might be able to respond to the Shock Loss question regarding previous plugs.

Maybe they can answer this question as well. This is something I've never seen on this site.

I have several scabs the size of a dime. Its been 12 days post op and these scabs have been there since day one. What can I do (they are not very appealing) and is this the result of my surgeon putting FU's too close together. As a matter of fact, one of the dime size scabs is exactly where a plug used to be, where I have shock loss.

Thanx again Pat

Midnite,

I am troubled by the crusts that are the size of a dime you spoke about. You might want to call your doctor to see if they want to look at them. I no from my experience they call that oozing. They might be able to break it up a bit. Remember you went for density brother, so shock loss is to be expected. On Feb 21 I am going in for 500 fu's on Hairline. I have a good hairline now which has been restored with fu's. However I am willing to take 1 or 2 steps back to go forward. I am prepared to shed some of my previous fu's for a more fuller, softer look in 6 months.

Peace

Thanx for the reply Ron,

I went to see my doctor on the 9th day after post op. He looked at these dime sized scabs..checking for infection. He indicated no infection. I've emailed him again, but unfortunately is a holiday weekend. There is no oozing out of these scabs. My guess is that in these areas there were some FU's put to close together, they blead a little the first night and the combined blood made a larger scab.

I'd like a doctor's view in this if any out there care to respond.

I'm very disappointed in the large scabs, simply because I'm three weeks post op...all scabs should be gone and I should look like before I went in for surgery (except for my shock loss). And yet...here I am still waiting for healing. All the other small FU's scabs are virtually gone.

The norm, based on this web site and even literature I received from my doctor is 5 to 7 days FU scabs will have healed and be gone. Like I said, I'm on my 14th day still wearing a hat to cover scabs.

Very disappointing.

I am sorry to hear that you are bummed. But the bright side hear is that you did a very large amount of FU's. 2800 is more than 2.5 times bigger than my largest session of 1200 back in 1998. Face it Midnite, That is a big session. That five to 7 day all scabs are off thing is a bunch or Horse s---. You get the picture. Your head went through a lot a few weeks ago. Give it time. You are going to be so exciting in 3 to 4 months when that bumper crop starts appearing (using Pat's terminology). I remember how tough my 1200 fu was in 1998. I cannot imagine 2800. I feel for you. These fu's are nourished under the skin, so unless they are popping out and blood is dripping down your face, you are just fine. It is hard to kill hair follicles that are under healed skin. Think of the trauma our heads go through in sports injuries, accidents, etc and the hair still grows back. Keep soaking that head before a shower and during the shower. These buggers(scabs or crusts) will start to come off more and more. Heck I am sure it looks better each and every day. As for your cosmetic appearance now, Keep thinking how you will look in the late spring and coming summer.

Ron,

Thanx for the encouragement. I've mentioned before on these posts, that nobody knows that I've done this, so this post basically is my only way of fenting/sharing.

I needed to hear that. Thanx again. I'll keep you posted.
