Been a reader for some time and found the site of great use so thank you to everyone here. I am based in the UK and been looking into hair transplants for a little while but never been able to commit, and still haven't. I have found the results displayed here and on other forums very helpful but there is always such variety and gaining a control on what is for me is very difficult due to mixed opinions. I have consulted with a couple of UK clinics and saw a Canadian clinic offering consultations in London a while back and all of them proved very inconsistent in terms of estimates. The 2 UK clinics recommended me 800-1000 grafts with strip and a Canadian clinic recommended me 4500 FUE. Confused wasn't the word Confused

I also met with Spex recently though who I found very knowledgeable and helpful as he talked me through the various techniques step by step and showed me various examples on a laptop of both FUE and strip results. He certainly tells it how it is which I found refreshing because by talking to him openly really helped me understand. He explained transplants and what could be achieved from them(very little for me). I honestly also could not tell he had a transplant and inspected it very closely. I wanted to see the scaring from FUE and strip but Spex did explain that his scar from strip was not to be compared to the strip scars today as he mentioned it was from years ago and it had also been filled in by FUE. I was very lucky also as he took a number of pictures and at the meeting and emailed them to Dr Feller just after taking them. This was great because whilst we were there Dr Feller replied to Spex telling him that he didn't think I was a candidate and to continue with the medication and he would re evaluate in 8/12 months for me if I wanted. It was brilliant to be able to get Dr Fellers opinion there and then. The internet is awesome! Spex did comment that we must have caught Dr Feller on his lunch, lol!

I feel I now have a better understanding on transplants finally since my long chat with Spex and think I will wait it out and see how propecia (proscar) works for me which I have been on for 3 months now. Thanks for listening and I recommend anyone who is confused about the mind field which is hair transplants and hair loss see Spex if in the UK as he really did help clear up many concerns I had. I offered to pay Spex for his time but he insisted it was not necessary. He did say that if I were to win the lottery to keep him in mind though, lol! Don't worry Spex, i owe you one Cool
Thanks Spex!!

All the best to everyone and hope to check back in and share my results with propecia in several months.
George.
