I believe most of you will agree that not all of the hairs on our heads are of the same texture. I have an area on the left side of my head, below the temple that is of some concern. Without pictures I'll describe the area as best I can. Above the side burn and below the temple there is an area of hair we all have that protrudes forward toward the eyebrow and forms a point similiar to a widows peak. While I was young, in a fit of rage, I pulled a large section out that never regrew. No comments please! I'd like to have this addressed so both sides of my head hair are symetrical. Since donor hair is not as soft as hair from this area, will it take on the characteristics of the hairs where it is transplanted like a bht or will these hairs look out of place due the difference in texture?

Not so bad,
I know exactly what area of hair you are referring to. I think the best place to start is researching hair restoration namely temple work. I haven't needed any myself so I haven't looked for extensive before/after photos...however, in my time I have seen some that have indeed looked impressive, and I've seen some that look a bit unnatural. So like my general advice...look at for consistent results from clinics to see if you are satisfied with what you see. It is true that hair textures in various places of the scalp are of slightly different in texture, however, the difference is slight that it shouldn't have any bearing on the result assuming that the grafts are placed well. BHT in the temple area, IMO, should be out of the question because the hairs are much more course and fatter. Hope this helps. Falc, Thanks for the input and I've never considered body hair as an alternative. I was simply using them to draw out the texture comparison issue. I've had my HT's done by SMG, so I'm going to discuss this with Drs. Ron and Paul when I visit them for my 6 month follow-up. I was hoping someone here had this specific kind of procedure done before. Thanks again. You should be about 5 months or so post-op just like me. The next few months should make a world of difference.

Not so bad,
Many people have had this type of surgery...but you may have to use the "find" feature of the forum to find them. Just type "Temple work" or some derivative of and I'm sure you'll find what you are looking for. Yeah man...I'm at 5.5 months right now...things are progressing nicely....still looking for more results...should be real nice in a few more months!
