I had my first HT of 2300 grafts on 04/14. It was recommended I spray saline (contact lense) solution every so often to heal the scalp and grafts. Actually it was recommended the first two or three days. I have continued only because my scalp has not improved. There are still blood spots, etc. Shampooing and conditioning have not helped. As of 04/19, my scalp still looks the same. Should I stop spraying and let the scalp dry and begin the scabbing? Will the blood spots affect the grafts? Any suggestions?
thanks

Hello
I also had a surgery 4/14. This is my 2nd (1100) bringing my total up to 2360 grafts. My first surgery I had much bigger scabs. You are suppose to keep your head moist. The scabs are suppose to fall off (not rubbed) off around 7-10 days. I expect mine to be gone around Monday morning, just knowing where it is based on the way it looks compared to my last surgery. It took about 13 or 14 days for me last time. I would keep your head sprayed as much as possible. That is seeming to work for me this time.
Hope this helps. Once the scabs are gone it will be pink and noticeably a different color than your non-graft areas. I think a good solution I found was the self tanning cream. Clinique is a real good one and available for about 15 bucks at department stores.
I started using direct light water from the shower today, day 6. On my first transplant I shed the scabs only and the hairs remained and grew longer right away. I started to see hair density increase within the first 4-5 weeks. I didn't seem to have any noticeable shock loss.
