Does messaging help or hurt the donor scar post op? Seams like it would help or should you just let it heal without any more trauma?

Massage can actually loosen the scar and increase its eventual visibility. "Don't pick it, it will never heal!"

Leave your scar alone!

I am a paid showcase and "patient coordinator" for Feller Medical, PC in the UK - all opinions expressed are my own.All assesments and treatment plans are made by Dr. Feller alone.Be aware of clinics who use paid non-doctor consultants to assess your hairloss as this is absolutely illegal in the U.S., U.K, and Canada. You can start massaging the donor area a year after healing. If I'm wrong about that I'd like to know as thats what I was told

Thin,

I agree with Spex. For the first 6 months, just let it be, with the exception of putting anything directly on the scar to facilitate healing if you choose. Scalp massages (to help increase laxity either for another hair transplant or to help loosen your scalp) should be reserved for after 6 months.

I also believe in erring on the side of caution, so though 6 months is the start time, I typically wait another 2. But that's just me.
