Hair greed! - Hair greed is a killer, so be aware of it and its ability to creep up on you!! We all want more hair - Hair is like money you always want more! Everyone I meet with I tell them straight out that regardless of the size session you have its inevitable you will WANT more - You will not necessarily need it but you will WANT it - Nature of the hairy beast Wink

Its important that guys and girls realise that HT's are a commitment LONG TERM and you must realise that you will always want to refine your hair and wish it were thicker/fuller/denser etc.. - This is the nature of hair - No one just gets one HT (Unless very small requirements initially) Ht's are not a quick fix - you need to consider the long term commitment and the FACT you will want more. Many clinics will tell you it can all be done in one session - that is straight out BS, so be aware! Be aware that your goals will in time change as well which contribute greatly yo hair greed. You initially only want a conservative session and once its grown in you wish you'd had more and you will want more - Hair greed! If i had a £ for every time a patient had said - " I only intend to have the 1 session and that will be me done" - i would be rolling in it Smile

The more you have the more you will want especially once you have seen the results of good work initially (Doc dependant). I personally needed to have more work due to unsatisfactory results initially - (i still want more though even now) -Many guys now have the use of these forums to find a top doc straight off the bat - which in turn allows you plan more effectively long term and facilitate "Hair greed" much better - Donor management! Wink

The vast majority embark out with every intention to just have one session as only want a conservative change to their appearance but once the effects of HT no.1 come in - They want more!!!!! Hair greed - it gets us all so be aware and think/plan long term Cool

This topic will hopefully help:

Number of Sessions!

Amen

It's important to have realistic expectations and a solid game plan. Also, we must realize that we are trying to create the illusion of density which may limit the style available to us.. At a former N5 I am estatic to have a hairstyle which is trendy and versitile without visible loss. However, I am a bit limited. Maybe that will change in the next 6 months as I am only 6 months post op .

LOL Morehair.

You know, 7550 grafts later and I STILL want more hair! What can I say! Talk about a bad case of hair greed.

Of course for major baldies like me, it takes more grafts to get the job done. A LOT of area to cover Smile

I'll possibly be going for a 4th in a few years - I guess time will tell Smile

Hi!

I'm HAIRBANK, and I have hair greed Frown

(response from the hairgreed anonymous support group): HI HAIRBANK!!!!

Sheesh - do any of us balding (or former balding) types not suffer from this disease?? Wink

I have to say......HT #3 was somewhat of a toss up for me. I've only got a little over 5000 grafts, but, I saw some pics of me the other day from about 4 years ago, pre-HT - man, night and day difference. I can actually pull off different hair styles now - who'd have thought??

Anyway- hairgreed won out and I'm going back for more. I hope I'm done after this harvest but I'll never say never!!

Great thread, Spex!

I have not had a HT yet but I can understand how hair greed would be an issue for me too. Once you start seeing hair come in you want more and more.

Spex you said to think and plan long term. I was hoping you can expand a little more on this issue. I am in my late 20s and already a norwood 6. I am guessing that I would need at least 4000 grafts to get some decent coverage not even including the crown... And speaking of my crown it would need a lot of work as its already pretty bare.

In situations like mine what hope do I have? Not even 30 and pretty much completely bald with average donor density. How would you suggest I plan for my future when considering a HT? I know that I will eventually become an NW7 just like my dad and its quite depressing. Any advice would be great as I really value your opinion and love reading your posts which are all very helpful. Cheers...

take a chance....

I am exactly like you....At least with my first procedure I no longer look bald from the front. I am hoping for crown and overall coverage from a major session with H+W for the second time...

I think Spex would agree here......get on proecia and rogaine ....do scalp excersises which you can find on you tube and find a doc that can do the biggest possible procedures with a good verifiable track record. Be prepared to travel and spend serious money. Start doing online consults with docs from the coalition

Wanthairs

Thanks for the advice. Currently doing scalp exercises and going to get on propecia as soon as I can.

I need a large session but i am worried about future hair loss progression. Hopefully it all works out...

Spex,

Read the post and I am now thoroughly miserable. I am 18 months into seriously researching HT. I have told my immediate family my plans and found the finance to fund a procedure. I am under no illusion that one procedure will only give me limited coverage and regain a hair line, but I never have considered "hair greed" My preferred doctors are H&W and I was kind of hoping 4000/4500 graft would last to the end. The prospect of another couple of HT's and the stress! I think I will purchase some clippers and forget the whole thing...
