Does wearing a hat, not a tight hat, just a regular ball cap have anything to do with losing hair? or receding hair line?

jsw,
No it does not. Like you said, do not wear it real tight. Make sure to take it off when you go to bed! |

jsw,
nobuzz is right. It won't contribute to hairloss. Falc To learn about how I restored my hair, read my hair restoration story with pictures. See also my hair loss weblog. Agreed...........hats have nothing to do with baldness. Funny.........I only wore hats sporadically before any HT's but did wear them, now, after my first two HT's have grown, I find I don't wear them at all......period! (unless I'm hunting or shooting.........it's a must then or they wouldn't let me in to the sportsman's club!

Not only does it not contribute to hairloss, it can help prevent sun damage to any area of the scalp that has thin to no coverage. Furthermore, I know some docs have written that highly sun damaged scalp is not a good area for the placement of grafts. So not wearing a hat can in fact hurt your future transplants. I think if your out in the sun for any extended period of time, regardless of hair, you should wear a hat or sunscreen on the scalp.

Although wearing a hat is not a reason for hairloss, hairloss is often a reason for wearing a hat. Been there.

I am not completely sold on the idea that Baseball hats can not cause a small amount of hair loss(mainly in the temple areas where it causes the most friction). I might be alone on this one but if you think of certain hair styles that can cause balding (mainly braiding ones hair or dreadlocks) and or damaging ones hair follicles, why not a baseball cab that is constantly rubbing, pulling & irritating the temple area? There is no doubt that hair can fall out just by constant pulling or tugging{you can try it out yourself
