I'm just wondering here if the top doctors in the world ever screw up? Or do they consistently and always give their best? No I'm not talking about mediocre docs here... I'm talking about the docs we consider to be the absolute best? Do they ever have bad days? Or are they always at the top of their game?

I think that any physician that has performed enough procedures will naturally have the occasional patient that is not 100% satisfied. Physicians are, after all, still human. However, they have earned the distinction of becoming a "top doctor" by relentlessly minimizing factors that could lead to a less-than-great result. Just about anyone could move hair around, but a true "top doc" must be able to take the time to meticulously and painstakingly duplicate nature with amazing artistry while keeping the patient comfortable and happy, ensuring operating room sterility, supervising technicians, and a host of other factors that I couldn't even begin to think of off the top of my head.

And don't forget about the staff. The technicians are absolutely critical to the success of a great hair transplant procedure. They are performing the tedious tasks of trimming the follicular-units, graft placement, and a host of other responsibilities. There is no doubt that a great team is imperative to the process.

I have read here and there that some of these top docs (all members of IAHRS) had done a poor job on such and such. But let's not forget also that the result of an HT varies greatly with each individual. You can have a top doc in his best day performing a textbook surgery and still the patient would not be happy with the results, most of the time because of more-than-reasonable expectations.
