When can I start taking Propecia? Had HT Monday and was given script by the DR. Also, after the refils run out, do I have to see a special Dr to get more scripts? I have never used Propecia before, but I I will try and protect my $8000 investment now.

I think you can start it immediately, and I did about a week after the transplant when I got all the GOOD drugs out of my system.

BTW, the Proscar appears to be about 1/3 the cost of Propecia, and both are the same. You might call him next and get him to change if you wish. Mine is about $28 per month.

Post some pics, or start a Weblog.....

Our doctors normally recommend waiting 7 days post op to start taking the propecia. Also our patients are able to come back each year at no charge for a follow up and new RX.

I own Physicians Cosmetic and Hair institute, a JCAHO accredited office based surgery center. I am not a doctor all views are my own. All of our Doctors are contract employess and are hand picked by me for their experience, knowledge and results.

The Goz,

I have never heard of waiting 7 days post op to start using Propecia, only Rogaine. Can you explain why?

Also, since you work for a Hair Institute, please list the name of the clinic/physician you work for according to our terms of service.

hounddog,

Most physicians I've spoken to have said that there is no reason to stop taking Propecia for a hair transplant and starting it any time is appropriate. Rogaine on the other hand varies as to the appropriate stop time pre-surgery and start time after. Be sure to ask your physician to see what he/she has to say.

Best wishes,

Falc
