Has anyone heard or know anything about surgeons in S.A.? I've heard from some friends who traveled throughout S.A. that Colombia has some skilled surgeons. My buddy said he talked to a few locals down there that had HTs and they said the price was almost half as much. My friend said their hair looked great too. It's tempting but seems like a little risky.

Hi, I'm Leo
I had HT 2 years ago in Sao Paulo, Brazil
The Doc was world class , he is a colleague of Shapiro. They had the same traning ,actually they have helped to develop the procedures through sharing in congresses etc.
His name is Doc Tykocinski. You can get the info on this site in his part of The Coalition.
Also Brazil is a beautiful country.
All the best

Leo,
Glad you found a good surgeon.

Murdoc,
I would call Shapiro's office and ask about Leo's doc.

I lived in Bogota Colombia for a year; love the food and love the women but I damn sure wouldn't have a hair transplant there. If you could make it to the doctors office without being robbed, shot, or kidnapped, maybe it would turn out alright. The every day working public are great people but the poverty and crime are beyong anything you see in north america; yet we north americans still piss away our lives huh?

Murdoc,

I wish I knew more about the actual results of the surgeries being done by surgeons in South America. I have met several hair transplant surgeons from South America at various surgical meetings. But I have not known enough about them to recommend them on this community.

The one stand out exception has been Dr. Authur Tykocinski . He's one of the rising stars internationally and does excellent ultra refined follicular unit grafting using the lateral slit technique. He's also a terrific guy and one Hell of a surfer.

When he invited me to visit him in Sao Paulo to see his surgery and then spend time at his beach house it was an offer I couldn't resist. His surgery was outstanding and so was Brazil and Dr. Tykocinski's hospitality.

For those who want a world class surgery and adventure I recommend him and Brazil. Call it a hair restoration vacation (just don't get a sun burn on your head). Dr. Tykocinski's speaks English and so do some of his very fun friends who showed me all around and even tried to teach me to surf.

It would be fun to see a North American post their experience with his clinic on this forum. Just make sure you try learning to surf before the operation not after.

As for Columbia, Pushing 40, you are one adventurous man pushing the limits. But judging from the Columbian women I've seen getting kidnapped in Columbia might even be worth the risk, especially if they were the kidnappers.

Pat- Thanks for the feed back on Dr. Tykocinski. You too Leo. I don't know how I overlooked him, considering he's a member of the coalition. Anyway, I checked out his site and sent some pictures to him through the virtual consultation option. Making it into a vacation would be awesome. With his prices substantially cheaper, I could easily afford the plane ticket and traveling expenses for a 2-3 week vacation.

Pushing 40-Correction on my part. My friend said Brazil, not Colombia. And according to your post, that's a good thing.
