1 Procedure of 5900 hairs/2307 grafts with Bill Reed, MD by William Reed, MD (created on )Gallery | Comments
This case represents the results of one procedure as noted above. The breakdown is 376 1 hair FUGs, 976 2s, 488 3s, and 517 double follicular unit grafts (2 fugs left together to make one graft). My cases are often all single follicular unit grafts but often double follicular unit grafts are a good choice. This would be in cases where the hair is fine, where the color contrast of skin with hair is low, where donor density is high so that the slit size is about the same as with 2 single fugs, if the hair style is planned to be other than short and if a second procedure ensuring a high density end point of hair is planned. The choice has positive economic effects on the patient. The literature overwhelmingly supports higher growth rates with chubbier grafts. All of these factors were present in this patient.
