| This medical colleague of mine used to rent me office space when I first moved to Northern Virginia. And when one of his partners was out sick, I helped out in his office 2 afternoons a week back in 2000 for a few months. We had been talking about options for quite a while, and he opted to move forward with a 2500 graft case. He has always been a kind man and was a pleasure to work with for me and the staff. Although a bit older than me, he really had a tight scalp and scalp exercises helped somewhat for the 4 weeks that he did them preop. I had hoped to get a yield of more than 2700 grafts, but his donor area had much more randomness to it than the usual scalp. I got a guess of that preop, but only after 5 of my cutters came in with the same comment--a first--did I realize that we wouldn't reach our goal. His strip was 1.5 cm wide and was a reasonably tight 2 layer closure, but at 11 days (pics posted today) his scar looks like it should do great and we'll do another session in a year. I'll try to post periodic updates showing his loss of transplanted hairs over the next few weeks, and then regrowth....up to a final result. Dr. Lindsey McLean VA |
