| This 36 year old male had a receding hairline, recession at the frontal/temporal triangle, and some thinning in his Frontal Core. He was mainly a hairline case but I put the 3 and 4's in the frontal core area to add more desnity. You can see in the close up photos this patient has many cowlicks in his frontal hairline. I chose to follow them because he still has so much of his own hair. The FU and Hair count is: 1 Hair FU 747 2 Hair FU 920 3 Hair FU 392 4 Hair FU 13 Total FU 2072 Total Hair 3815 If this was only a Hairline case I would not need 4's and 3's and I would instruct the technicians to split the 4's and 3's so I would have mainly 1 and 2 hair FU's and very few 3's. I mention this because of the previous conversations about splitting or not splitting FU grafts. I think it is more instructive to look at each case as using the type of grafts one needs to get the best results. What is important to me is that I tell the patient what I am doing and why and they agree with my plan. As most of you know in some cases I keep two FU together to make double follicular units (DFU) because I believe I get a greater illusion of density with the same number of hairs. In the end it is the amount of hair and how one places that hair that gives the final result. That is why I always give a Graft Count (FU and DFU) and total hair count. In Health Dr. Paul Shapiro |
