Dr. Cam Simmons – Norwood 5-6 thinning – 3085 FUT-T grafts to front by Dr. Cam Simmons (created on )Gallery | Comments
This 38 year-old man had a Norwood 5 -6 thinning pattern of hair loss with a thinning midfrontal forelock. He has black, average diameter hair with average follicular units.

He fully expected to progress to the Norwood 6 pattern that many other family members have reached. He did start Finasteride and Minoxidil right after his consultation.

He chose a front-to-back approach and concentrated on finishing the front in this session of 3085 grafts. He had single haired grafts in lateral slits in his hairline then @ 50 fug per square cm in his forelock and behind his hairline then 44 then 38. Perhaps because of the novelty of having hair again, he has kept his hair a bit longer than I would recommend at the 11 month mark … but it’s his hair so he can wear it how he likes.

His scalp was not flexible but his donor hair was dense so his strip was just under 1 cm wide. He had a trichophytic lower ledge closure (Rose technique) but I hadn’t started routine undermining yet (as per Dr. Frechet). His donor scar was easily hidden but not “invisible.”

He recently had a second session of 1799 grafts to his midscalp, but of course nothing is growing there yet. His old scar was excised and revised with short-width undermining and trichophytic, single-layer closure.
