I am comtemplating taking dutasteride, but am a bit leary as I have read so many negative posts about it on various newsgroups.
I used to take proscar with good results, but after around 4 years I began to develop such severe reflex hyperandrogenetic symptoms, it actually made my hairloss worse. I stopped about 2 years ago and have not taken it since. All of the negative symptoms went away quickly, except my left pec is still noticably larger than the right one. My doc said that the proscar caused an increase in breast tissue, and that it is permanent. It's really not too bad or worisome at this time, but I wouldn't want to do or take anything that might cause further increase.
I am thinking of taking Avodart 0.5mg every 5th day, and closely monitoring myself for any negative signs. Once of my concerns is that I am now in my late 40s, and know that this is a time in my life when hormonal changes naturally occur.
I've had 2 transplant procedures and I do not want to to anything to jeopardize them. But my crown has gotten really bad. I started minox 5% 2 weeks ago, which has only caused the crown to shed more and enlarge. And I've heard such horror stories about dutasteride destroying the hairline. I spent too much money having mine restored.
Does anyone have experience of taking 0.5 Avodart twice a week without inducing side effects? Even better, anyone have positive experiences on it?
