after a couple hours of researching ive noticed that there really isnt many new products out since a few years ago when i stumbled upon hairloss message boards... its still the same ole recipe... propecia/proscar , minoxidil, and nizoral... there are a few others out there that are new..but nothing short of a cure or real fix. Ive read about new drugs ABOUT to come out that look awesome on paper, but im very sceptical about what its outcome will be espcially with seeing the results of one of the PROVEN methods (rogaine) and how little that helped if anything it MIGHT have slowed down the progression. So im curious why ive never seen anyone try anything outside of *the box*?
Growth hormone for example. I have fallen off the wagon as of lately but plan on getting back on soon as i graduate college of an avid weight lifter/wanna be bodybuilder. which of course just as with hair loss there are tons of message boards with lots of info on various drugs/steroids etc etc that are used. And obviously knowing that dht is what causes a lot of the hairloss to occur in men, what do you think happens when 30 yr old men inject themselves with testosterone? yes dht also goes up and there are tons of posts of people asking for hairloss questions which often get the same propecia, rogaine, nizoral standard answers....BUT one thing ive noticed is "over there" there is 1 additional thing that is supposed to be just as useful if not MORE useful in regrowing hair being growth hormone. Im not talking about the knock off HGH pills that gnc sells. Im talking about the prescription HGH you inject with an insulin syringe every morning. This stuff if quite expensive and that is why a lot of people stay away from it hgh kits usually ranging 300-400 bux or so. Dosing for typical adult male who isnt a competitive bodybuilding being 2ius a day 5 days a week usually runs a person 150 bux or maybe down to 100 bux a month if you buy in bulk or find a good deal. Im not suggesting everyone go out and try this as this is a true prescription medication not intended for the purpose of growing hair solely but MANY people swear by this stuff and i personally have taken it. My hair is not too terribly thin now at 31 years old but its been slowly receding and thinning for years so i never had a huge amount of hair to grow back but ive always been insecure about it thinking i am right around the curve from being bald. Well i dont remember much hair growth as i was using this product specifically for its muscle building and fat burning potential probably at the age of 25ish but i dont remember being concerned with my hair thinning during that period of time either also i only used it for i think 4 months. Again im not advocating using this as this isnt something you can pick up in walmarts health and beauty aisle and also can get pricey 100-150 bux a month and also without a prescription you would be breaking the law by ordering this stuff. It does require a prescription although honestly its not a highly controlled drug but probably watched a little more closely than your 2% nizoral shampoo that you need a prescription for anyways. Just food for thought im suprised ive never seen anyone try this as while it is kind of pricey if you add up how much you spend on propecia, nizoral, and all the other therapies if this stuff is legit for that purpose it may not be much more expensive and still is quite a bit less expensive than a hairtransplant. anyone here have any personal experience with HGH to throw in some input? PS. dont bother emailing me asking me what message boards sell HGH because i WILL NOT tell you. If you TRULY want to try it out you will have to search for yourself. It IS out there and hopefully if you spend hours and hours searching for it you will read enough articles about the pros and cons about it and be able to make an educated decision about wether or not hgh is right for you |

I do not have any experience using HGH but I can state that messing with it is a scarey proposition. Spend your money on a hair transplant before you end up having to buy a liver on the black market.

NN,
LOL...or a new set of kidneys... I agree, while not exactly perfect, stick with what the market defines as approved treatment. If for no other reason, you at least have someone to blame/take action against if things go seriously wrong. HIGA 2400 Grafts with Dr. Epstein 11/8/06 Nizoral 3X/week Rogaine foam 2x/day |

well just to keep this thread going as there isnt much new info out *other than the standard "therapies"... once again im not suggesting this by any means just saying not to exlude this as a possibility... im VERY suprised that i would be the first to bring info about hgh to this board as its been around for ages.... once again let me REEMPHASIZE im not condoning the use of this simply stating some ideas about possibilities and here are a few things to consider... i understand both of your concerns about the safety of hgh... but
1 did you know it is prescribed to adolescent children who arent going through their growth spurt properly? this stuff has the potential to actually increase a childs height and weight when taken properly if their natural hormones dont... now this doesnt mean anyone who takes it gets taller/ bigger only children during puberty. To me that is a a drug with remarkable characteristics... to make someone taller?? keep in mind 13 year old little girls have kidneys and livers too and there are ABSOLUTELY NO REPORTS of liver toxicity or kidney toxicity 2. This drug is often prescribed to patients who are wasting away with aids. Aids is a disease that totally destroys your bodys immune system. Wouldnt you think that if this were a dangerous drug it would speed up the dying process in someone with virtually no immune system? 3. third point IN SOME COUNTIES ITS LEGAL 100% LEGAL there are clinics all over LA and hollywood that sell this treatment to celebrities and anyone capable of spending the money...ive heard the prices are drastically more than the 150 bux a month range that you can get the drug via the internet...ranging typically 5 thousand or more per month. But just a key thought to keep in mind. This isnt a drug that is boiled up in some mexicans bath tub in tijuana. Its made by eli lilly or any number of highly reputable pharmaceutical agencies. Did you think that the celebrities that are in their 50-60s and look like they are in their 30s got that way by using dermapeels and rogaine? not likely ps i believe ive read that whoppee goldberg, tom cruise, sylvester stallone have been spotted going into these clinics... could be wrong as im not up to date on my E entertainment these days 4. many drs who keep up on current trends and medications will actually prescribe this to you if you are over 40. There are a lot of studies showing your natural igf-1 levels drop drastically after the age of 35-40ish. This is what causes a lot of the aging process. Some people claim that hgh (the real hgh) is the fountain of youth. Doing a little bit of searching on google you will find countless books articles and knock off products on infomercials etc etc. Again the knock off products absolutely do not work but why do you think someone would make a knock off fake supplement to sell in stores if the real thing didnt work either? in conclusion i dont mean to sound like an advocate of this if thats how i do seem.. just shedding some light on something that i am HIGHLY SUPRISED has never found its way to this board with people able and capable of spending 20thousand+ for transplants ESPECIALLY if you can talk your doctor into prescribing it for you so its free. I work in the medical field (no not as a 6 week cna either) have studied this drug for YEARS as im very interested in its abilities to me it seems to be one of the most remarkable drugs available these days. From all that ive read there is absolutely no toxicity what so ever and many people with much more medical expertise and education believe this drug to be the pharmaceutical fountain of youth (hence why you see so many stupid knock off infomercials) ..just food for thought...dont take my word for it...read up on it for yourself...dont assume you know anything about this drug because it sounds too good to be true and must have a drawback....research ps all your meats sold here in the US has hgh in it these days anyways |

ps .. i just did a quick search on google about hgh and apparently the prices have dropped for the average consumer considerably in the last or so years. I was under the assumption that those rejuvination clinics that sold hgh were only available in california but ive seen numerous ones all over the country with the lowest price i found in a 5 min search being 1200 dollars for 12 weeks ... much cheaper than the 5 grand a month to do it legally... im sure there are upfront charges...blood work.. online consultation fees..err they may make you fly out there in person for all i know... before you are allowed to start getting it...but still quite a bit cheaper than it used to be... so here in a few months i plan retrying it back out and will take pics once every few months... and when i say try it out i mean legally of course obtaining a RX first.... of course id rather pay 4 times the amount i can get it online

Yay,
I didn't mean to blow you off in my initial response, but I just wanted to make sure that individuals that are not overly intelligent don't jump to it without any forethought. I too am in healthcare and have been in sports at all levels and am quite familiar with HGH. I am aware of the medical uses and the nonmedical uses that people are trying. Yes it does seem like it could be the fountain of youth but you really have to be careful with it. I personally cringe when I hear that they are giving it to small statured children because it can have all kinds of horrible effects in some instances. It is those rare circumstances that bother me because why take the risk. I have never been one to take very many if any meds because of the possible side effects. I try to do natural things in my life. I for one know that the pharmaceutical industry is a money driven beast that will have so many negative implications on our welfare. I guess if someone wants to experiment with HGH they can and quite possibly it may help, but I for one have drawn my line in regards to it. |

The following shows the result of exercising and HGH:
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?cmd=Retri...137178&dopt=Abstract I'm not sure but I think it says that the harder the people sprinted, the more HGH their bodies produced. If this is correct (and I'm not sure it is as it's in doctor speak), I would recommend NOBODY start sprinting until you get a doctor's checkup AND are in shape. Kramer |

the study is just trying to say that sprinting 30 seconds boosts hgh levels up much higher than sprinting for 6 seconds... which i find completely common sense. sprinting for 6 seconds? im suprised hgh would go up any in 6 seconds... i agree with you about getting checked out if you feel you may have cardiovascular or heart or blood vessel problems but just to prevent a heart attack... hgh is a good thing any exercise you can do that will stimulate a natural production is a good thing... look at the difference in builds between a sprinter and a marathon runner...big difference .. the marathon runners look totally depleted like an ethiopian chasing after their next meal from all the cortisol and damage from running for that length of time... while sprinters just sprint for 30 seconds or so at a time then rest while their bodys produce hgh for hours afterwords. natural production of hgh is a good thing .. the debate is wether using SYNTHETIC hgh injections to BOOST or replace your natural production is or not safe and even if it is if it would work
ive personally used this in the past not for hair restoration but to drop some lbs of fat and try to lean up a bit and it seemed to do the job quite well but i dont remember if i noticed any hair regrowth as i was only 25 at the time some things to consider before using hgh if you are considering it or just looking into it is that the verdict about its long term safety are not well known just yet pros: a lot of people think this drug is the modern day fountain of youth. it decreases bodyfat adds lean muscle supposedly turns back the clock so to speak in many aspects .. it heals worn down or aging tissue all over the body... there are some that claim as far as this board is concerned (hair) it has the ability to regrow hair and ive also heard it can turn grey hair back to the natural color in time cons: currently there are no KNOWN cons to using this but some speculate about its safety by making guestimates on adverse possibilities... this drug is KNOWN to be able to make muscle tissue grow...this drug is KNOWN to be able to make bone grow in adolescents going through puberty... it is known to be able to make organ tissue grow at higher doses.. and some worry that a drug that has the ability unlike any other drug to make any tissue in the body grow worry about if it has the possibility to make cancer cells that ordinarily would be lying dormant also grow .. so far there is no proof of this but one can easily see how it MIGHT be possible |

You know, I've noticed this (runner vs sprinter body types) but never thought much as too why. Now you got me thinking about going out and running a few sprints... :-) Seriously, since I've read that article, sometimes when I ride the bike at the gym, I'll go full speed (sprint like) on it for the last 45 seconds or so just to get a free blast of HGH.
