Hey guys. What is everyone's take on the effect of caffeine on hair loss. I've seen many articles that say it increases hair loss but I've also heard a few docs say it doesn't. Opinions?

I was just wondering because I think I take in a lot of caffeine.

DaveOH,

I've never heard of caffeine having any affect on hair loss. That's not all that helpful, but I usually listen for anything that mentions impacts on hairloss, and I haven't heard of the caffeine issue. If I had, I'm sure that would be something else I'd be paranoid about. Wink

It was actually something I thought of a while back. It was just a hunch. I ran a web search and found a lot of info on it. Apparently it causes stress to the adrenal glands and raises the amount of DHT in your body. Of course this may be next to nothing. I've heard doctors saying that it's not a factor, but I've also heard of some who say it has a notable effect. I'll see what I can dig up and post it.

hmm

I know several heavy coffee drinkers over 70 with great hair - maybe it (Caffeine) helps grow hair ??

I think it is rubbish !!

Everything it seems has been blamed for MPB, lets face it - its part of ones genetic makeup.

I think it's caused by the sins one committed in their previous life. Wink

How come "winos" (not that there's anything wrong with that) all seem to have lustrous, thick heads of hair?

Ooops I guess David Lee Roth & Phil Collins didnt do enough drugs...

I'll stick with Genetics.

I never thought about the role of caffeine in hairloss, but I think Uncjim and Micro have raised some provocative questions about the complex relationship between sin and hairloss. To further develop this interesting line of inquiry I offer another article.

To anyone,

In case anyone is alarmed by the link I posted, relax!!!! This is an example of why you should not believe in every "article" posted on the internet.

I wasn't saying that caffeine caused hair loss. I'm saying there are a lot of sites out there that say it increases the amount of DHT in your body. This would only affect people who are already susceptible to it. Anyhow, I was hoping you guys would debunk it since I'm a cola man.

David Lee Roth is losing his hair?

Hmm, perhaps that's why he's not in the limelight anymore.
