There should be no problem with minoxidil per se, but definitely if you conceive a male child then the finasteride would result in genital deformities in the fetus. When a woman is pregnent you shouldn't even let her handle broken finasteride tablets. Even that small a amount is goin to create problems for the male fetus

But minoxidil shouldn't be used by the expected mother, coz no trials have been taken for that. Males can use it no probs.

This is a good question, but I see no reason why as a male you should stop taking it. Women just can't get it in their bloodstream and there's no way that can happen via sperm. I can also guarantee that if this was an issue there would be some serious documentation on it and the warning would be written all over the label for the drug.

- Regimen:
Propecia 1X daily

Even if a pregnant woman handled the tablets once, I doubt it would create a problem. With that said, I wouldn't be so sure that you could trust Merck to issue warnings if there was a problem with pregnancies in cases where the male was on Propecia. Merck is the company that suppressed the problems with Vioxx.

Joeysi,

Member "Minoxidil" is dead wrong. There is no evidence anywhere that continuing finasteride's use while trying to conceive can "definitely" result in gential deformities in the fetus. In fact, evidence to the contrary is true.

For more information, read Coalition member Dr. Bill Reed's input on "Using Propecia While Trying to Conceive".

Best wishes,

Bill (Falc)
