I've been on propecia about 2 years and it has worked great. However, in the last few months, I feel like its lost some of its effectiveness as I've noticed more hair loss. Has anyone had this experience? if so, any suggestions? I was thinking of maybe taking a few weeks break and then restarting it in hopes of 'jump starting' it. Also was considering avodart, but have read all the posts and I am somewhat concerned about using it.
Any thoughts would be much appreciated. Thanks |

First of all do not stop the Propecia, you may shed quickly, though you do not think it is working well, it is working to stop hair loss.
I have not been on Propecia as long so it is still working for me but from what I have read in the Merck literature 1mg works as well as 2mg or even more but...the dosage they determined to be most suitable was based on the average response. The dosage was based on a bell curve, the 1mg recommendation applies to those individuals in the center of the bell curve, some people fall outside this area, one way or another. It is possible that 2mg may be of help to you, but you will have to monitor your hair loss or growth and subsequent side effect that may follow. I know of many doctors that do not follow the Merck recommendations, either by prescribing less or sometimes more, there is no exact dosage perfect for everyone. As in all medications, we each react differently and sometimes adjustments need to be made, just be cautious. 1,000,000 FUT DR. MOBOGO WHEREABOUTS UNKNOWN |
