Guys, I'm 20 years old and have been seeing gray in my hair more and more over the years. I found my first white hair at the age of 16. I know many other young people experience this as well. Where is the cure for premature gray hair? I mean, we have technology good enough to clone hair follicles...shouldn't we be able to keep our hair color? I have used hair dyes, but where my hair is dark/medium brown, I am left with a red tent most of the time. I just wish I could find something (an article, website, etc..) that shows scientists or doctors somewhere are working on something that will reverse graying.

The funny thing is, I read this post a couple of hours before but did not reply because I have never seen a white or grey hair.

So just hours later I am taking my morning look at my new buddies that are growing in along my hairline and what do I see? Two grey hairs above my left ear.

Oh well, if it gets too bad there is always "Just For Men." Grey hair is much better than no hair.

The lastest edition of Men's Health had a some article on this. Doctors are working on isolating the gene that causes gray hair, they have discovered why the hair turns gray, so now they are working on it... Maybe in 10 yrs they will have a cure- until then "Just for Men" will be in business. By the way, I've tried all other brands--Grecson, Loreal, the new Clariol for men-- and Just for Men last longer-- up to 2-3 weeks longer in my case.

Social: Sorry to hear that man. Hope my article didn't cause you the gray hairs above your ear! I guess you're right though, gray is better than none!
Smoothy: Thanks for sharing the info. I'll have to look that article up. So the article said approx. 10 years? At least they're working on it. I've tried Grecian and Loreal..and like you said, I like Just For Men the best. I just hate the red tent it leaves when I use it.

Brando: no worries. As long is it is there, I am happy.

Smoothy: very interesting. Why does "10 years away" sound so familiar with groundbreaking science in hair-related topics?

Must be a conspiracy...

haha

Does anyone think it's possible for your hair to turn gray faster after having a HT? By faster, I mean a month or two after the transplant to notice more gray.

that seams like it is more genetics, than anything. Is it possible?.. I don't know.

Yes, trauma causes hair to act funny, but would it cause that... My guess is no. UNLESS, maybe genetically programmed to become gray, then excellerated.

I am not familiar with what causes gray hair, and am only speculating.

I suppose it's possible although I've never seen it. Sometimes transplanted hair changes color. Sometimes we've seen gray hair actually turn a darker color after the transplant. I've seen blonde hair turn brown as well. but like I said I've never seen transplanted hair turn gray. It's most likely just aging. Get youself to the gym and start doing weight training to slow the aging process

I am an independent hair transplant surgical consultant and hair loss researcher. Any opinions I have posted are my own. I am working on a few hair loss/transplant projects and will be making some announcements concerning them in the near future.
