First off thanks for this forum. It has really helped these past few months collecting information and assessing my personal situation regarding my hair loss.

My question is, has anyone else met with a dermatologist and was skeptical of his/her knowledge on the usage of propecia? I met with a dermatologist this past week, and he seemed clueless to "shedding", to "sexual side effects" beyond the merck data (the infamous 1-2%), and to any real conclusive maintaining/regrowth of hair. He gave me a prescription nevertheless, which i am still hesistant to get filled. Needless to say, I am still skeptical about the true effects (good or bad) of propecia. Thanks again for any feedback.

My HT doc prescribed mine but I imagine some dermatologist who aren't interested in hair restoration probably don't bother to educate themselves about the latest in the field.

With the amount of information available today via internet access and forums like this, you can base your decision on hard facts obtained from clinical studies and personal experience. Do some thorough research and see what you come up with. I debated for months on whether or not to commit to what I believe will be a lifelong Finasteride regimen before deciding to move forward. So far, so good. Use the find feature on this site to aid in your research...........there's tons of info.
