How do I find the best doc in my area?

Seems like it has to come from a recomendation, rather than falling for the "hype" that one gets from making an "appointment".

This is just my $.02, but if you are going to go through all the trouble and expense of a HT, traveling is just a small part of it. I did not have a good surgeon in my home state either, so I had to travel a bit. Considering you will live with the results for the rest of your life, the extra cost of travel is not that significant. As far as choosing a surgeon, once you have narrowed it down, you should talk to some patients and view the results if possible. Of course, the surgeons listed on this site are a good place to start.
