my largest regret in life is buying into to all of this hair transplant crap. i was told by dr lorenz at bosley atlanta that with my hairloss pattern id never need another procedure again. im 38 and he says that. and the car salesman sitting beside him was in complete agreement like he knows anything about hair. i feel like an idiot to have done this. TWICE

Hi 16Inchscar,

Yes unfortunately there are many who fall victim to some less than skilled surgeons. If you do some research on this site you will find others that have gone through your same scenario but were able to turn things around somewhat via a coalition doc. I feel for you as I know you feel there is nothing else but regrets.

As Jobi stated you may still have a positive outcome. continue researching this site as you may find a doctor who can help you with repairing your current state. All may not be completely lost.

Do you have any pics or specifics such as # of grafts and where placed?

Again it sucks that you got taken but if you post some pics there are folks here who can provide you with a good assessment of what you may and may not be able to do to improve your situation. All may not be lost as there are a good number of docs here who can turn your situation around so give it a shot.

No offense 16, but all you do is post a complaint once in a while and then we dont hear from you for 2 weeks. If you need some support just ask questions. You arent the only one whose been duped into the Bosley bullshit. Join the community and start having discussions w/ the guys. It may help to make you feel better

16inchscar,

I'm sorry that you are really struggling with this. Have you posted your pictures on our forum? Are you considering corrective hair transplant surgery?

In addition to seeking help for your hair, I encourage you to seek help and counseling for your overall mental health. It sounds like this is consuming your mind. Seek help for your hair, but don't let it stop you from getting out there and living a normal healthy life.

Best wishes,

Falc

Check out my weblog, and the pics of the huge grafts Dr. Cooley took from my hairline. It's all healed and undectable now, at 7 weeks.

Go to a real doctor and they can help you.

16,

I really do feel for you man! I had the same thing happen to me by Boston Bosley. There really should be something we could do about these hacks. Do you plan on having another procedure to repair the bad work? HT's have come along way and even the worst jobs can be fixed up. There is hope and thats what keeps me going. Also Im not sure how old you are, but hopefully in the next couple of years hair cloning will be available and none of us have to worry any more. Listen if you need someone to talk to feel free to PM me!

hey dakota. thanks for the support. im 38 . i called bosley atlanta today and the salesman told me they needed me to come to atlanta and see if i needed another procedure. i told him hell no. and i dont plan on anymore procedures. all they want is to get us back in the chair and get more of our money. it would be nice if we could get some of our money back like all of it and then some of theirs. but i blame myself for doing it. noone forced me to get them even though looking back i was more or less talked into it by the doctor and his salesman

Well I wish you luck my friend and hope that whatever you decide to do "not another Bosley procedure" it makes you happy.

I will ask you 1 more question on this subject if you dont mind.

Was there a salesman there who claimed to have had a procedure done by your doctor?

I wish you luck 16! I am also victim to the lies and deception that Bosley pulls. And now, about 15 years after my first procedure, I have two lovely little (well, not little, they are wide but not long) scars so low on my neck that perhaps (just perhaps) a doctor performing FUE could hep me out.

It's now a constant reminder. I have taken the first step to getting my hairline restored and made to appear more natural, but I'm becoming increasingly concerned and sensitive to people looking at the 'back' of my head. Who would have thought?

Anyway, many of us have suffered and many of us have found solutions through different doctors and consultations. I encourage you to share some photos (crop out your eyes/face to keep yourself anonymous) but it will help with comments and recommendations.

My first clinic told me the same thing. If you check their website, they have a comb running through the salesmen's hairline. No way he's had mini grafts.

The first thing he asked me was, "Have you ever had a transplant?" Being 25 and desparate, I figured they were really undetectable.

Im willing to bet that most of these hack clinics are doing this to sucker you into having surgery done w/ them. I wonder if this is an angle you can take to get your money back? If these salespeople arent being truthful w/ us than this is false advertising! That was the biggest selling point in my choice of doc's. I do believe Im going to contact my doc and try to get some proof of his salesman's HT, and I suggest you do the same 16!

I don't know if any of you all saw it, but a month or two ago on one of those afternoon court shows, there was a man suing a transplant doctor for poor results, improper advertising, etc.

I caught only the last half of it, but the lady judge ruled against him; saying she thought he looked fine to her.

Of course, he wasn't getting much sympathy from the court crowd either. It's amazing how people (who don't have the problem) think it's no big deal to lose one's hair. Yet, braces to fix teeth, nose jobs, lypo suction, etc. are all given some sympathy.

Thanks HT55:

You know, I talked with Jotronic and Hassan was on my short list of four doctors; along with Cooley, Charles and Alexander (although I never actually did a consult with Alexander). But a few of the reasons I chose to go the route I did are:

1. I wasn't sure I wanted such a dramatic change in my whole appearance so suddenly. I'm 42 and have a thriving financial advisory business in my small town so I didn't necessarily want to have the head of a 20 year old all of a sudden,

2. I'm of the belief, right or wrong, that it might produce a better overall result - given you chose a skilled surgeon - to break up a mega session into two sessions. IMO, the optimal result comes from a 2,500 graft procedure. I just think that based on some wonderful blogs I've read on here in the last four months, plus a couple of drs. websites. With that said, I think Hassan would also do a great 2,500 session,

3. If I decided on a mega session, that's where I'd go. But, they are in Canada and I'm in Georgia. I felt it was a benefit of being able to drive to Charlotte to have this done,

4. Money was an issue for me at first. For some reason, at the beginning I was thinking of this procedure as a "luxury" expense, much like an expensive toy or something. I took money that my family didn't need, just excess savings, and calculated it to be about $7k. I could have easily arranged for the $16k or so as my wife and I both have good careers, but I was just thinking of it as sort of a bonus.

Also, I had to get my wife some plastic surgery on her eye lids ($2,000) and promise her a boob job at Christmas break ($5,000), so no telling what she'd wanted if I'd spent the $16k.

I might go back in a few years, but I think this will turn back time for me about 10 years. I was more concerned that the old "plugs" were becoming noticeable, so I don't mind if I'm a little bald on the crown and thin in the hairline as long as it looks natural.
