Dear Forum Members,

I would appreciate this community's input on the potential recommendation of Dr. Keller on the Hair Transplant Network.

Dr. Keller of North Shore Hair Transplant Specialists has over 6 years of experience in hair transplantation and performs hair transplants exclusively at his clinic located in Chicago, IL. He has the experience and staff to perform over 3000 follicular unit grafts using ultra refined follicular unit grafting in a single session when appropriate for the hair transplant patient. He also only performs surgery on one patient per day in order to grant full attention to his patient.

Dr. Keller believes in maintaining a level of flexibility in hair transplantation recognizing the uniqueness of each hair transplant patient. His extremely meticulous nature drives him to pay special attention to detail. Dr. Keller uses all single haired follicular units to create a natural hairline in order to properly frame the face and produces a natural crown swirl using a mix of larger and smaller follicular unit grafts to mimick nature.

I learned that though Dr. Keller uses varying cutting instruments to make recipient incisions depending on the area of the scalp and patient's needs, he tends to favor sharp point precut blades as small as .75mm for 1 and 2 haired follicular unit grafts. In order to follow the natural direction of the hair, Dr. Keller often creates incisions at an angle somewhere between a sagital and coronal incision. Adjustments are made accordingly in order to follow the natural flow and direction of the hair while minimizing transection of the existing native hair.

Dr. Keller uses a single blade to excise the donor area to minimize transection and uses the trichophytic closure technique to close the donor area in order to help properly camouflage the scar. Follicular unit grafts are dissected with a microscope by his highly trained hair transplant technicians of up to 6+ years experience and then placed into recipient sites under Dr. Keller's personal supervision.

Examples of Dr. Keller's quality work can be found by visiting:

The pictures are of ok quality and the work looks good but I personally need to see more. Its nice to see theres another surgeon in Illinois besides Konior that can deliver
results that dont ruin your life but every surgeon has 4 or 5 great photos. Does he have more? Im 50|50 as of now.

notgoing2gobald,

As Pat and I find physicians worth considering for recommendation, we evaluate them and if we feel they are worth considering, we post the information we have obtained for member review.

I am looking forward to additional responses regarding Dr. Keller's potential recommendation.

Since I live in Illinois, I will comment on this one (normally I might pass up to more experienced voices) but while the above examples look good, the picture quality is poor, the number of photographs are limited by comparison to other examples of work done I've seen on here. I dont see how you can really say anything more than more examples, and better photos, would be needed before saying yay or nay

The first patient's results/pics look great. if we could see more consistent results like that I'd say this doc should be considered. The second patient's hairline looked a bit too transparent. the female patient results looked dense but picture quality was poor. Also, more immediate post-op pics would be nice.

Being new to the Network, my question would be is this the way all physicians are selected? Not that I discount Falc's opinion but seems there should be some testimonials from recent patients in addition to these photos. I know I pay more attention to what is said here than what is on the physician's web site. Just my 2¢

At the request of our online community, I have asked Dr. Keller for additional patient examples and surgical pictures. I received several tonight and posted them for your review.

I have also sent him an additional request for any "top/down" angled pictures that he has for these patient cases and any donor scar pictures.

Below are the links to these photo albums for your review.

4600 grafts in 2 hair transplant sessions

Immediately Postoperative Pictures of extreme hair transplant repair case - 1800 grafts (warning - some graphical photos of donor strip harvesting)

Surgical donor removal and closure using the trichophytic technique (warning - some graphical photos of donor strip harvesting)

Best wishes,

Falc

Dear members,

I appreciate the input I have received so far and at your request, I have been in touch with Dr. Keller to send additional photos. He has been very understanding and appreciative of our interest in seeing a true representation of his results. Dr. Keller plans to send additional photos in the coming week.

I will post these additional photos when I receive them.

Best wishes,

Falc

Dear members of our community,

I have received and added to Dr. Keller's photo album, additional photos of a norwood 6 patient who received 4600 grafts in 2 hair transplant sessions.

Though Dr. Keller does not have a top down photo of this patient, I think these photos show a better representation of the result.

Click here to view and add your comments.

Best wishes,

Falc

I appreciate everyone who contributed their opinions on Dr. Keller's potential recommendation.

I believe that Dr. Keller has now provided enough surgical and patient photos revealing that he and his experienced staff perform impressive quality results. I also appreciate his willingness to rise to the challenge and responsiveness in providing additional photos when requested.

Given his experience, credentials, and patient results, I believe that he has earned the honor of being recommended on the Hair Transplant Network

Hi!

What exactly is donor strip harvesting? Is there some place on the forum where I can find HT terms and their meanings?

Thanks!

Sandra

Magnolia,

Welcome to our community forum.

Strip surgery is when a strip of scalp is removed from ear to ear containing hair follicles that are slivered and then transplanted into balding areas.

Use the "find" feature of our forum on "Strip" to learn more. I'd recommend taking a look at the Hair Transplant Network and the Hair Loss Learning Center websites also.

I also recommend posting a new thread with any and all of your questions and our members will be happy to answer all your questions.

Best wishes,

Falc

Falc,
On December 22 you post a message saying that you have requested more and better photos from Dr. Keller.
Where are all these additional photos he was supposed to have sent.
After your December 22 post you say you have posted a NW6 patient who received 4600 grafts in 2 sessions.
Didn't we already see that patient?
It doesn't seem like Dr. Keller added any new photos per your request.
This addition seems somewhat fishy to me.

"willingness to rise to the challenge" lol

byehair,

I requested additional photos from Dr. Keller for the 4600 patient that I already posted. The additional photos have been posted in the album.

He did not have a top/down picture so I could not post one.

I have already posted a number of albums (read all the threads above). Pat and I feel based on the photos we received, and evaluating his practice through detailed discussion, that he is recommendation material.

There is nothing fishy about this.

As usual however, all seeking patients are encouraged to research thoroughly all physicians they are considering.

Falc
