The Eshrs is the annual meeting of the European hair restauration surgeons.
This year it was held in Madrid about 10 days ago. dr. Ilter performed a live demo FUE session in front of his peers. The setting was a bit strange because dr. Ilter had to perform FUE on a patient that had just been strip operated by a Spanish team a couple of hours before. Using his 0,6 mm instrument dr. Ilter showed the attendees ,mostly European docs, I believe the only US was dr. Di Stephano), how FUE can be used in mega sessions. They watched the live FUE demonstration in the room as dr. Ilter explained how his FUE works in his hands. Since it was a small demo session only about 120 grafts where extracted. Several drs. in the room ran a check on the grafts under the microscopes and concluded that they where 100% intact, except for 1 graft that had a transected bulb. dr. Ilter will likely be speaking on the next Ishrs in Montreal in september or give a workshop (not sure but I guess the topic will be about FUE megassesions). Dr. Ilter explaines in full detail how to go about FUE. Everyone is allowed to see at close range what is going on, inspect the instruments...

Thats great Thats something Armani would never do because he doesnt want to reveal the maker of his secret tool is black and decker . He uses a drill . Do you guys use a drill to extract the grafts ?

I believe most FUE surgeons have tried a drill at some point ... and discarded it afterwards. At least I dont know of any experienced FUE doc using it.
A drill takes away the 'fingertip' feeling during the extractions, a crucial element for FUE surgeons. Consultant-co owner Prohairclinic (FUE only) in Belgium, Dr. De Reys. |

I can only imagine the wasted and damaged grafts a drill causes. No wonder Armani has to pack so many grafts in such a small area . He has had a couple of nice hairline final results but when you look and see the huge amount of grafts and money it took to achieve that its mind blowing.

Bart,
Thanks for sharing this. I'd say one follicular unit out of 120 is a pretty good transection rate. I'd be interested in reading a more detailed report of Dr. Ilter's demonstration if you get a chance. He didn't happen to record or video tape it did he?
