Hi,

I'm Naren, M/29yrs, recently joined in this forum.
First of all I would like to thank each & everyone who are contributing in this forum with their valuable suggestions, experience. Thanks a lot....

I'm slowly loosing my hair from past 6-7 yrs, but still somehow I'm managing to cover my baldness. Now I'm worried about that, from past 2 yrs, I loosing so much of my hair in front side and middle of the scalp.

1 yr back I met Dr. Ashok Reddy, Hyderbad and he suggested to go for HT (Quoted 35k that time) and prescribed "Finax/Day" and Nizrol shampoo. I used it for 3 months and stopped. Observed not much growth with that and even lost more hair/more dandruff with Nizrol <I'm not sure whether it has happened with this medicine or not>.

Then..recently (07/Jun/08) I met Dr. Puli Ravindra Reddy, Hyderabd and he also suggested to go for HT (Quoted 40k), but the problem is appointment dates for Surgery.

He I'm worried about that, my marriage got fixed in this yr end, I would like go for HT around mid of August month.
My question is, How many months it will take to re-growth completely and looks normally after HT operation? <I can rate my case 2-2.5 out of 5 of baldness>. Based on that I will plan for my marriage dates:-).

Could anyone please suggest me?
And please suggest one preferable doctor in Hyderabad. I heard recently one more HT specialist Dr.Kavuri Madhu, Hyderabad also opened a new clinic near Jubilee hills (Police station) with latest technology.
But I don't have much data about him, can anyone please provide more data about him also?

Naren,

Welcome to our forum community.

Because physician selection is vital to ensuring you will receive state of the art hair transplantation, it is important to choose wisely.

One of my goals in 2008 is to look for a quality physician in India that meets our standards for recommendation at the Hair Transplant Network. Unfortunately, at this time, we do not currently recommend any quality ethical hair restoration physicians in India.

I recommend considering traveling at this time to ensure you receive a satisfactory hair transplant. After all, this IS a lifetime investment and getting it done right the first time far outweighs the inconvenience of traveling.

I recommend using the map feature of our website in order to find a quality hair transplant surgeon nearest to you.

To see what protocol we use to recommend physicians in our community, click here.

To learn more about a particular surgeon, use the "find" feature of this forum under the surgeons last name.

I hope this helps.

Falc

Naren,

Dont take decesions this early.
Before going to hve HT from any doctor do check for HT's done by them (either by meeting people or atlest pictures of them).
As i read on this forum thre are different procedures for HT.
So better get knowledge of which is best procedure and ask ur doctor which he is going to do?

I think u have not enough knowledge on Finax(finasteride also), try to get that also.

Read more and more before taking any step.

All the best for ur marrieage.

Thanks HoToStop & Falc.

Few of my colegues are already had HT from Dr. Puli Ravindra Reddy, 1 year back.
I have seen lot of hair growth & personal satisfaction with them. Even i personally met few patients at his clinic, they expressed satisfation with the treatment.
My question is, if i get HT done in August, how many months it will take to re-growth complete hair and looks normal?
Could you plz answer me?

Naren,

I am not the right person to answer your question(As i dont have HT exp) still want to tell you what i read on this forum.

People were talking about shock loss which is shedding of non transplanted hair due to HT (try to use find button to get more information regarding this).

And read peoples experiences who are undergone HT.

I hope somebody will answer your question exactly.

Hi Naren,
Good luck with your surgery. From everything I've read and all the blogs I've seen, hairs lost due to shockloss start to come back in month 3, new hairs start to grow month 4, and most ppl have some kind of coverage by month 6. But it takes up to 8 months to get to 80-90% thickness and a whole year for the grafts to mature.
I wouldnt want to be thinking about my hair at my wedding, so I'd wait 8 months before tying the knot! If you have to do it earlier, I'd recommend waiting atleast 6 months.
Good luck!

Naren,

I'm not familiar with Dr. Reddy however, I encourage you to ask your collegues to share their results on this forum. I'm sure this community would love to see results from a quality physician in India. If we can eventually find one, I'd be happy to consider presenting him for potential recommendation on this community if he is willing to share evidence of his results in a transparent environment.

Good luck in your research.

Best wishes,

Falc

Hi Naren

I can understand you, if you think Dr. Ravindra is better HT doc in Hyderabad. Please try to meet those persons who had their HTs done by Dr. Puli Ravindra Reddy, and observe their transplanted hair and density of the hair, and ask the Dr. Ravindra whether he does FUT procedure or any other procedure. If he says he does FUT procedure then take 100% assurance that the surgery will be successful and try to be on finasteride 1 mg daily, it is effective and please share your experience with us.

Thanks for your suggestions.

Now i temporarily prorogued my plan of having HT surgery and want to do more research on this.

Planning to have after 6 months to 1 year.

By that time, I'm consuming Finx 1 mg daily and applying Arnica Montana Hair oil thrice a week.

Can anyone please let me know how much I can rely on above medicines and will reduce my hair loss effectively?

~Thanks

Naren,

Finax stopes hair loss by blockong DHT.

There is another solution called minoxidill (mintop here in india) which stimulates hair groth. This initially increases hair fall as all miniaturized hair goes off.

I've started using Mintop 6 months back but didnt find any progress so i added finax 40 days back. Shedding started from on week after i started finax but all are miniaturized hairs. Tens of those hairs were not equvalant to single strong hair. No i m not loosing thosmany but still loosing some. Hope they will come back stronger Smile

I've read that soa beans also blocks DHT and other u can try is green tea. and dry fruits. (i am not taking these regularly).

Try them...lets hope...they will help.

Naren- I just joined this forum and am still in the initial stages of research, quite like you.

However I did make some inquiries while I was visiting India recently (April-May) for reputed HT clinics/physicians and did not find any good references in the Bombay-Cochin area. Obviously that's not to say that none exist but based on the people I spoke to (reputed hair stylists, doctors and cosmetic consultants), the consensus was to try the alternative (Hair weaving etc.) which was more prominent there. Folks were reluctant to recommend any HT clinics having heard some really negative feedback from their clients. I met an actor from Kerala (a rather prominent one) who mentioned that he and some others in his fraternity tried the HT procedure at clinics in Cochin and Chennai and came back very disappointed with the long-term results... they eventually settled for the weaving option, disillusioned with their HT experience.
To me that's appalling given that India is home to a major medical community and could be a very cost effective alternative to folks in the West.

I would be curious to see if some good doctors exist there who have a good practice (like in the US) and a solid reputation. The price you quoted (approx $1000 in USD) is obviously very tempting if the service is good Smile

Hi Naren

Finx or finesteride is a drug that will help you keep your existing hair but may or may not promote hair growth. However finesteride is a drug that may cause serious sexual side effects in some people such as loss of libido etc. So think twice about using finesteride.
Dont bother using hair oils as there is no scientific evidence to prove that these hair oils promote hair growth.
