well i'm 3 months post-op from my procedure
with dr. bernstein and am happy to say i feel
good, everything has healed well but i am in
foreign unchartered territory as to what is
normal as far as the regrowth period,so hopefully
some others can chime in and give me some feedback
1 had 1300 grafts done if anyone was interested,
my donor scar i must say was very red up until
a couple of weeks ago,at this point now it is
fading daily and is a dullish pink, but much better.my point of concern is my regrowth and if
it is normal.the grafts were placed in my front
to create a new hairline and placed thru existing
thin hair in the front.on my right side i have
several hairs which have grown to about a half
inch, but it is spotty, meaning some spots are
still bald with no hair growing yet.1st question
is this normal?secondly practically no hair has
even emerged yet on my left side, again is this
normal as well?my last concern is out of the
hairs that have emerged none of the singles
placed at the start of my hairline have started
to grow yet again nothing has grown on my left
side yet , so i'm speaking of my right side where
there is some regrowth no 1's yet have emerged.is
the very front a longer wait or is something not
right.some ht vets may be laughing as this may
all be normal,but again i don't know as i'm a
1st timer.again the spotty growth,the lack of
any regrowth on my left side and no singles are
my concerns.is this normal and the way it starts
or do i need to be concerned.any feedback is
appreciated.again i'm at 3 months.
confused

I believe 10 weeks has been mentioned as a ballpark figure for regrowth. At twelve weeks, you are still in the ballpark. I hope your grafts kick in soon, so you can ease your mind.

Hang in there.

Figsy I think all hair follicles work on different timing. I think there is 3 stages of a hair's life cycle. Some go into the sleeping stage and come out of it at different times. So the ones you are not seeing are either still resting, or so thin and fine you just cannot see them yet. It sounds like this was your first HT. That is great news, no scare tissue issues for people going into same area for second or third time. You should see great things this month and the next.

Peace

Ron

I'm at 3 weeks post-op from 1800 fu's by Hasson&Wong. About 70% of the grafts have fallen out which is no surprise, but I swear i can see some new little stubs of hair popping out all over, and there are new ones each day. Holding a magnifying mirror to my head revealed that they are actually new hairs. Could these really be the grafted ones already coming to life, or are they just the dead ends that are just now pushing out and will soon join the others that have gone down the sink drain before them?

Horsey- I had the same experience right at 3 weeks too... They popped out, and fell asleep. And a few of the grafts grew from the start. I'm 2 months post op now, and the new "sprouts" are still there, but still sleeping. The real excitement is still a couple of months away for me.
