Wow, I think this is the first time a dude called me "Super Cute". Any chance you are a woman? Smile

Seriously though, thanks for the compliment. Considering I'd have no hair at all on top if it wasn't for my hair transplants, I'm very happy.

And today, for the first time since my hair transplants, I will be getting my new license photo with hair! I'll have to scan my two license photos (removing all identify information of course) to show you the difference. Crazy!

Eman,

You are absolutely correct. It was a "wow" moment even for me. I couldn't even believe the old looking bald man that was staring at me in the face when I took the time to compare my new license to my old one. The photos are small so it's going to be hard to really appreciate it (especially since the will be scanned).

But in the next couple of days I'll scan then both and post them for you to see.

It's good to be a hairy man Smile

Jazz,

It's not that I need it. But like many others, I experience hair greed, the need for more density.

I feel much better about myself and in most lightings, most people can't even tell I have any traces of thinning, unless they looked down from the bird's eye view, in which case, it may appear thin, but not bald by any means.

But I guess we all want to come as close as possible to restoring full density and coverage. I certainly don't need another, but I'd like some more density.

To sum it up, if I never had another hair transplant and didn't lose anymore hair, I'd be happy. But if I can further improve it, why not? Smile

hi Bill,
i just read this thread for the first time and yes i'll tell you that the difference is huge from your before pics. but what puzzles me is that looking at your "final" overhead shot it is still see-through big time. i thought that after 3 HTs and around 7000K grafts the see- through effect would be a non-factor or much less noticeable. it might be the flash that egsadurated it so if you can take exactly the same picture without the flash and post it for us it would be much appreciated.

Mick,

Thanks for the advice Smile

Mr GQ,

There are plenty of photos in my photo albums (that are linked in my story) with overhead pictures outside without flash. But you are right, it is still somehwat see-through, especially in the back.

A couple of things people need to remember:

1.) I keep my hair relatively short so there isn't as much of a layering effect preventing light from getting in

2) Though 7500 grafts sounds like a lot, I didn't have as many 3 and 4 haired grafts as many others do.

3) The average head has approximately 100,000 follicles, 50,000 on top. 50,000 follicles on top equates to approximately 22727 grafts (when dividing by the average 2.2 hairs per graft). This means 22727 grafts would be needed to achieve full density and coverage. It is said that 50% is needed to achieve an adequate "illusion" of hair density, in which case, I would need 11363 grafts. As you can see, I'm approximately 4000 grafts short given the circumfrance of my completely bald top Smile

4) My hair characteristics are somewhere between fine and coarse, which as we all know, makes a difference in the appearance of the final result.

That said, it's expected that my hair still looks somewhat thin at certain angles and lighting. If I do go for one more session and can get a decent number of grafts, this should take care of a lot of the see-through appearance.

Thanks for your interest and Happy Thanksgiving Smile

Bill (Falc)

Hi Falc,

I've already had one HT session for approximately 3300 grafts, will post details on the forum soon. It was done by Dr. Sajjad Khan, don't know if you've ever heard of him but he came well recommended.

Needed some advice from you..the doctor recommended that I take both Propecia AND Rogaine to minimize hair loss as much as possible, along with using a laser comb weekly to improve blood circulation. I am taking Propecia, but should I bother with the other two? What combination of therapies are you using?

I'd appreciate any feedback you have.

rayzub,

Propecia and Rogaine are FDA approved for hair loss and often work better in combination with one another than either alone. Laser therapy is heavily debated as to its efficacy.

I'm only using Propecia to help keep the natural hair I have left.

Best wishes,

Bill (Falc)

So I've scheduled my 4th hair transplant with Dr. Hasson.

I'm in line for surgery April 1st - yep, that's right, April Fool's Day!

I will probably fly into Vancouver on the 30th of March and maybe tour the city on March 30th, and then go through surgery one more time on April 1st.

My goals at this point are to thicken up the front and top of my head, and if I have enough grafts, add some density to the crown.

I'll document my journey with all of you of course. I believe there are even a few members I've already talked to that have their procedures scheduled around the same time. It will be fun to go through this journey together. :-)

Best wishes,

Bill (Falc)

Wow! Congrats on being in such a position -- financially and knowledge-wise -- to go with such a top surgeon and clinic!!!!! Smile

Any idea on whether this will "strip you out"? I imagine this might make it more difficult to determine how many grafts Hasson will be able to harvest...either way, I am sure this will truly add some more icing to your cake! Cool

Pat must be paying you some big bucks to moderate.
Does your wife ever resent you spending so much money on your own vanity?

Thanks guys!

My goal at this point is to refine the hairline, and thicken and strengthen the frontal third and top as much as possible. If I have enough grafts, I will ask Dr. Hasson to spread them into the crown as well.

Eman - Yes, the wait is on! Bring it Smile

Lorenzo - I'm sure Joe and Hasson and Wong will treat me well. I'd definitely like to meet you if you are in town Smile

PGP - Thanks man. I'm looking forward to having even more hair.

Byehair - As usual, I don't know how to take your posts. No my wife doesn't resent me for wanting to improve my appearance. I'd hardly call it vanity.

Oh wow, was wondering when you were gonna do it. Not that you need it ofcourse, but i can understand the need for density.

any idea on how many grafts you can expect?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
11/0407 - 1600 ish grafts - danish clinic - mediocre results
12/02-08 - 2764 grafts - Dr. Devroye - 7 months post op, looking natural could use more density
Feel free to visit my picture thread
Hi Falc,
Like others stated, I think your hair looks great. But, as you said, why not go for it. Will you shave your head for the procedure? Also, how will this procedure impact scar?
