Thanks Glasgow,

Sexual side effects are a possibility with Propecia but they are considered rare as per Propecia's website. I've been using it for over 4 years with no noticeable side effects.

All the Best,

Bill (Falc)

I posted a thread on this a while back... My only side effect with Finasteride has been constipation. I know it's from the Fin and now I only take 1.25mg every other day. It still is difficult to have a bowel movement however.

I had the same problem when I tried Fin a few years back for a few weeks. It clogged me up immediately.

btw: i briefly read through your long journey and must say 7000+ grafts is very much. but i am happy you got good results. i have been fighting this nightmare since i was 16 years old. your alopecia did seems worse before, but my stuff started to spin in the crown area in early high school. it was bad. propecia has cost me $50,000, and rogaine, shampoos, hair products (toppik), and now this "rip-off" hair transplant, ... it is a down-payment for a home. but i should be bald like Dr. Phil because all genetics point to my mother's father side, and he's bald. i don't except baldness like many because i don't look good with a shaved head, unlike some others. my trademark is hair. well, i guess many would rather claim this

keep in touch,
jim

Hi falc , i juz went for a HT 1 week ago , method used is FUE. From what i understand from my doctor that there will be a layer of dead skin shredding off , i can already see the dead skin , but my question is how long it took for those dead skins to be totally shredded off ? and how long those blood stain stays on ur head cos from what i know im not supposed to scrub my transplanted area when im shampooing my head.

What is troubling me now is i have a bald patch on the back of my head which is very visible , and on the front of my transplanted area , those tiny little blood stain surrounding my transplanted hair make it very obvious that i juz went for a HT , which im trying my best to hide from ppl. I cant wear a hat or cap to work as it will be very weird as i am required to dress formally to work.

very very depress...

Hey every1. just joined this site today and im very impressed with what iv seen, and i think its great that every1 is spending so much time to help others!

Anyway, looking at bills story it has filled me with more hope. im 22 and thinning at the back and front, pretty much the same route as bill so far (no bald spots, but you can see the patern of much thinner hair where it will all be gone one day). Im thinking of starting propecia, any recomendations? been on procerin supplement for just under 3 months and lasercomb for about 6, no difference with lasercomb, maybe a slight slow down recently with procerin!

i hope to document my journey just like bill!

Take care every1

Thanks for the replies guys.

Jim,

"All genetics point to my mother's father side..."

This is actually untrue. Genetic hair loss can come from either side of the family and is not solely linked to your mother's father.

sadcas3,

I'm sorry for the late response on this. However, I do encourage you to start your own post in order to garner the input of many members. At this point (since it's almost a month after your hair transplant), all of the scabs should be gone and the transplanted hair has probably shed. Many patients at one month after a procedure look exactly like they did prior to surgery. A few months from now, the new hair will start to grow in slowly, gradually, and take up to a year to mature. Feel free to post your experience and photos by creating a new thread.

Tinchy,

I'm glad my story has given you some hope. Propecia works well for most men to help them keep their existing hair. Be sure to talk to your doctor about this medication and the possible side effects. Being fully informed is the only way you can make an educated decision as to whether or not its right for you.

Best wishes,

Bill (Falc)

Mike,

I'm actually 6.5 months along already. Time really does fly doesn't it?

I'll be taking pictures at 7 months and will update my website :-)

Ok, since I was asked for it, I decided to take some pictures and update my patient website. I also updated my website with 5.5 month pictures since I took them but never updated it.

5.5 Month Pictures

6.5 Month Pictures

Here is a before/after comparison from prior to having any surgery to 6.5 months after my 4th procedure. I apologize for the lighting difference in the photos as I know it's harder to compare. But do know that any remaining natural hair on top of my scalp that you see in the before photo has since been lost. Both photos were taken with flash.

Best wishes,

Bill (Falc)
