Hi,

My latest HT was 3k grafts all of ones and twos hairs, is this normal? Placement was 1700 in the first 3 inches of hairline, 5-600 in middle, and 700 crown.

I am pleased with the procedure soo far but i just want to make sure splitting wasn't performed.

Reputable doctor, i would prefer not to mention names at this time.

Regards

BTW, my hair is very coarse.

What started as a curse when I was younger is now a blessing.

Could you imagine, I used to thin my hair with every haircut?

3000 grafts and NO 3 and 4 hair grafts ?
In my opinion highly unusual.

Dolfan,

Congratulations on your hair transplant surgery.

I agree with bverotti above. For a patient to have 3000 grafts of all 1 and 2 haired follicular unit grafts naturally occuring seems extremely rare, but I'm sure it's possible.

Either you truly didn't have any 3 or 4 haired follicular unit grafts, or your surgeon cut smaller grafts (sub-follicular units) for some reason.

Most if not all surgeons from time to time will split larger grafts into singles if needed for the hairline. Some surgeons also feel that they can accomplish a more natural result by cutting smaller grafts.

However, other than cutting larger grafts into singles for the hairline, I am a fan of strict follicular unit hair transplantation, leaving the hairs in tact naturally as they occur.

If I were you, I'd ask your surgeon why you only had 1 and 2 hair grafts and see what he/she says.

Best wishes,

Falc
