Help stop the useless repetition. While everyone (I hope) welcomes new members and posters, and would love to help, a simple search of this forum will yield boatloads of info on most doctors.

Read first, there's volumes on this doc.

Yes, we have info. It is NOT GOOD. If you want to waste your money and potentially ruin your head/looks, by all means, go visit Dr. Sword. If not, do some research here and find a doc that is worth spending money on.

Sorry guys, I didn't find the threads until after I posted. I had originally searched for "Dr. Randall Sword" and found no results. I see there are one or two complaints and one or two that were happy. Is it possible that his practice is more up to date now. he has been around for a long time while it seems to me that some of the highly praised doctors on this forum may be newer to HT and therefor have not made the early mistakes of the pioneers. For example, he does not recommend scalp reduction for anyone.

JAF--- If you are serious about treating your hairloss, you are a short flight from Hasson and Wong, or Shapiro Medical, generally regarded as the the finest HT doc's in the world. I look around for deals as well, but this is one thing you do not want to F'up.
I will spell it out for you: Why pay Lobster money for hamburger? Forget the Sword clinic and do some research.

Some of you have said that traveling to Vancouver to Hasson/Wong would be the best bet. Can someone who has done this explain how it is accomplished. I mean do you stay there for a few days in a hotel? I would think flying right after a mega-HT would be difficult and maybe dangerous. If you do go home right away, what if something happens (bleeding, unusual pain, etc.)and you need to see the doctor. How is all this handled? I am also condidering Dr. Rassman in LA. How does he rate?

JAF55 - I'd strongly recommend spending a few nights in the location of your HT if you are a long way out. I went to Dr. Shapiro and I ended up spending three nights there after the surgery so that I could have the shampoos at the office, spend some time in the area, and ensure that everything went as planned. It also helped to ensure that I iced and used the graftcyte spray as often as I am supposed to.

You don't need to spend that much time after surgery, but I'd recommend at least 1-2 nights stay.

JAF55,

I made the Vancouver trip this past February and wouldn't hesitate to do it again. I traveled one day (from Chicago, 4 hr. flight), had the HT the next day then flew home around 9am the next day after stopping by H&W for my first shampoo. I also drove 4 hrs. from the airport to my home. No big deal.

If you follow the instructions the week prior to the HT, you shouldn't have any excessive bleeding and the pain (for me) was minimal to nonexistent. They give you Tylenol 3 (which I took) and a sleeping pill for the first night. Your head feels akin to a block of wood for a short time, you just have to watch getting in and out of the car, getting into the airplane seat, anything that would cause you to bump your head (the grafts).

As M&M posted, if you have the time you can stay a few days. They covered the cost of the airfare for me(with a graft credit equaling more than I paid for the plane ticket) and the Hotel stay (2 nights). I thought the experience was a blast. If I have the funds and want more grafts in a year or so, I'll definitely do it again.
