I am 21 and have a receding hairline. My hair on the crown is thinning at a slow rate, because of finasteride. I am thinking of starting up a concealer regiment, but am too uneducated to decide. I welcome advice and cost analysis. Thanks much.

The 2 best concealers that worked for me were Toppik and Prothik.

Toppik really is quite amazing, you have to see it to believe it. I believe socialdrinker posted some before/after pics on this site of him using Toppik. The only problem I had with Toppik is that it didn't work too well for the hairline, but the crown coverage was amazing.

Prothik did work for me on the hairline. It actually adds some substance to the existing hair you have too, so after you comb your hair with it in, it will remind you of what it was like to comb your hair with a full head of hair(if that makes any sense). Unfortunately it's a spray and gets all over your bathroom sink, floor, countertops, etc. etc. It's very messy to clean up.

These products worked as advertised for me, but I did stop using them. I felt paranoid with them on my head, even though my wife kept assuring me that they were unnoticeable.

It's not too hard to figure out the web-sites based on the information above. Check them out and good luck, hopefully you won't have the problem with paranoia that I did.

I don't know anything about Prothik, but I have used Toppik a few times. The stuff sucks on the hair line. Looks like you have dirt in your hair. But in the crown it works wounders!!

I use a combination of DermMatch and Toppik. DermMatch works real good on the hairline because you can do a gradual fade of it towards the front. Since it takes few minutes to apply though, I'll use Couvre instead if I'm in a hurry. For me though, Couvre doesn't hold a candle to DermMatch and I'm using less and less of it. I finish the job with Toppik, mostly towards the back, and extra-hold hairspray.

ive been using both toppik and couvre for the past few years. Couvre as a masking lotion for the scalp and toppik to thiken the hair. Your best bet is to give toppik a go first, its not as messy as couvre and will thiken your crown. Like biff says "you have to see it to believe it". Give it a go.

I have toppik that I never used even once (in the big bottle). The big bottle of medium brown, a small bottle of medium brown and a small bottle of dark brown are not being used. If anyone needs it let me know and I will send it to you. 45 bucks for all 3 bottles plus Toppik hair spray (big bottle alone with spray was 50 dollars). I DON'T NEED IT!

I've tried most of what is out there, and for me Dermatch with Toppiks works the best--it's Great.

I'm a DermMatch man myself and am overall pleased with the results and price.

Hey how's it goin.... Bro im 23 years old, and about 2 years ago after my 21st birthday i started noticing that my front line was starting to thin.. sure enough i was able to cover it up since i had lots and lots of hair... Yet it still bothered me.. By my 23d birthday i had lost alot more.. and as my 24th birthday is almost here, im really losing alot.. not just in the front but in the back.. i lost my confidence.. can't even talk to girls anymore... and i feel like ive short changed my self... like people that never met me with my hair... they never knew how good i looked.. the shape of my head doesn't allow me to shave bald... people started noticing how baddly i was thinning..i then went to a hair transplant place in the city... and the guy started talking about shock.. when u implant the new hair.. some of the remaing ones fall out for a time being.. and he said my head would blow up and become red... and i basically couldn't goo out till all that went away... i mean its a real surgery... i kept asking why God, im 23 years old.. i shouldn't have to go through this.. everyone i know has a full head of hair... anyways.. i took a long shot as i became desperate with topik... i thought this stuff had to be BS as i was raised by a father who though everything on tv was bs, and he's probably right, except for this product.. i couldn't believe my eyes after i applied it for the first time.. i looked like i did when i was 16.. it was amazing!!! AMAZINg! like i lost my mind.. started thanking the good Lord for science and technology and topik.. after i went out.. i tried it in the wind.. and everything.. nothing makes it fall out.. ive been with a girl nothing.. i showered with it after i slept with it on for a full nite.. nothing.. still in my hair.. i hair sprayed it and its still there... looks soooo real.. no one can tell.. people didn't even know why.. but people just started saying.. ulook soo nice today.. complements on my hair that i haven't gotten in over 2 years! and no one knows whyl.. todl htem i got a new hair cut guy that does it really nice.... i just pray to God that i don't lose more hair.. if i stay with what i have.. i will use this till my last breath.. it saved my youth.. ah the fountain of youth some people are saying dermmatch is the best.. i haven't tried that yet.. but its next on my list.. as now im a believer
