I read somewhere that this could be damaging. I know that I used to shower everyday without shampoo (for as long as three days because I had toppik), but now after my HT, I have done so liberally. On my days off, is it okay to just shower without shampoo and apply rogaine? I know that if toppik is in my hair, then I should shower it off ASAP. Any feedback will help. Thanks.

I shampoo daily without any problems. In fact, my hair gets too oily if I don't wash it daily. On the other hand, there are some who wash their hair every other day and sometimes longer. Race and hair type make a difference.
Shampooing daily however, won't cause or facilitate hair loss. Since Rogaine can make your hair and scalp extra oily, it's probably a good idea to wash your hair daily to cleanse them. I think it would be advisable to shampoo your hair to remove whatever thin film of sebaceous oils or dead skin cells, before applying minoxidil in order to increase the penetration of minoxidil, (even by a little bit). Once the skin is hydrated minoxidil penetration can increase slightly. Please check this. I'm not sure. take care... |

Certainly having oil on your scalp would decrease minoxidil penetration, however I don't know whether a significant amount of oil would build up in 24hours to merit washing daily?
I do anyway, simply becuase my scalp gets itchy if I don't, and also I like being clean but refuse to wear a shower cap |
